About Nicky Perryman
Shamanic Practitioner & Visionary Artist
How I Discovered Shamanism
Hi I’m Nicky Perryman, a shamanic practitioner currently based in the West Midlands, UK. I first became aware of shamanism in 1998 when I received shamanic healing over an extended period. It was also at this time I met my Power Animal and had many synchronicities and metaphysical experiences. I read a lot about shamanism including the work of Sandra Ingerman and Michael Harner. I also learned a lot about indigenous cultural spiritual practises and how connected to nature and spirit they are. I felt that a new whole world had opened up, however it was like coming home to something that I’d always known. I learned how to travel on shamanic journeys and used my experience for my own self development and healing.
At the time I was working at a herbal medicine clinic and was surrounded by herbalists, acupuncturists, reflexologists and other healers. I really wanted to become a healer but I wasn’t sure what path I should take. I learned about Chinese 5 Element Theory and Plant Spirit Medicine through the work of shaman Eliot Cowan and had some healing with him and his students in the USA.
Energy Healer, Life Coach & Shamanic Practitioner
My Healer Training & Lineage
I then developed my healing skills training as an Energy Field Healer with Sue Zange, learning how to read and move the subtle energies of human energy fields. Overlapping this, I trained as a Shamanic Practitioner with my teacher shaman Churaig MacNeill. I gained a solid understanding of shamanic healing practices including Soul Retrieval, Psychopomp work and Spirit Extraction. I enjoyed the space to explore the shamanic landscape with my fellow students. It was a wonderful time of growth and change. In addition, I completed Life Coach training. My coaching skills allow me to help clients shift their perspectives and reframe their situations in a more positive and empowering way.
Since then, I have completed many healings and readings for private clients, whilst continuing to work on my own self-healing and personal development. See my testimonials here. I work with a group of guides and animal helpers. In my journeys I use a drum to enter a trance and I use songs given to me by my ancestors. I also use a fan, a rattle, certain crystals and I burn white sage (smudge). Please have a look at the FAQs page for more information about Shamanism and Shamanic Readings.

Inspired by the mysterious beauty of nature & shamanic realms
My Artist Training and Creative Development
As a small child, I spent many hours outdoors exploring fields and hedgerows, talking to trees, and communing with the natural world. For me shamanism combines the best of everything I love in one place, the wonders of nature in Spirit
and in this Ordinary Reality – to me there is no separation and I take the animist view that everything has a spirit and is alive in some form.
I always knew I wanted to be an artist ever since I was little. I was continually drawing, painting, collaging, weaving, beading, making pots creating puppets, writing stories and poems. When I was 5 years old my mother who was a
talented artist and craftswoman, gave me a needlework set: scissors, thimble and needle-case. Since then I have been passionate about drawing, colour, pattern, design and textiles especially embroidery. I trained in textiles at Manchester
Metropolitan University and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Embroidery in 1988. I have worked as a freelance artist and workshop teacher since then. I have completed many private commissions, licensed greeting card designs, and
exhibited in many different galleries.
In addition to textiles, I love many forms of expression and various media: painting in watercolour, ink pen and markers, acrylics, digital illustration with Procreate, mosaics and embossed metal. My most recent works are
acrylic and watercolour paintings, and various paper and cardboard experiments.
I have always adored storytelling and folklore, especially those tales of animals and the liminal world. My Spirit Guides and Animal Helpers have tasked me with the work of sharing spiritual art, symbols and stories with others to
educate and inform, and help them along their souls’ path.
