Forest Fox painting by artist Nicky Perryman

Forest Fox watercolour painting by artist Nicky Perryman
Here’s a little commission I did recently of a fox stalking through the evening woods. They’re so mysterious, it’s a subject I like to return to again and again. I’ve been drawing a lot of foxes lately. I do try to learn the subject visually before painting it and drawing the same subject over and over really helps me to get to grips with the proportions and so on. Of course there is always room for improvement. I find it hard to get good reference images of animals feet to draw from. Luckily fox’s feet are usually hidden in the grass! I’ll probably never be done with foxes so I’m sure some more will pop up at some point.
This painting was done using Daniel Smith watercolours and some posca and unipin pens.

My customer was happy with the painting and I’m planning to get some greeting cards done soon so look out for them in the shop.
